Aviation Safety Inspector (Air Carrier Operations)ASAP

Incumbent serves as Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) Manager (Operations) Part 121 (CALA - United Airlines), and is assigned as primary interface between the Certificate Holding District Office (CHDO) and the assigned air carrier to prevent accidents and incidents by encouraging employees of the air carrier to voluntarily report safety issues and events. Has program responsibility for the vehicle whereby employees of the air carrier can identify and report safety issues to management and FAA for resolution. Assists the CHDO in compilation of data for the Safety Assurance System (SAS), System Safety Analysis Tool (SSAT) and Air Carrier Assessment Tool (ACAT). Performs inspections, surveillance and certification duties for the air carrier, its airmen and designee as directed by the Assistant Manager/Unit Supervisor/Supervisory Principal Operations Inspector. Has program responsibility to assure that assigned organizations meet Federal Aviation Regulations with respect to operations. Applicants must be physically able to perform the duties of the Aviation Safety Inspector position in a safe and efficient manner, and must meet all of the following requirements:
A. Have a good distant vision in each eye and be able to read printed materials the size of typewritten characters (glasses and contact lenses permitted) without strain; B. Have the ability to hear the conversational voice (hearing aid permitted); C. Not have any physical condition that would cause them to be a hazard to themselves or others or that would interfere with their ability to fly as passengers in a variety of aircraft.Lateral Movement between Specialties:
To assist in determining qualification requirements, applicants transferring between specialties at the same grade level are strongly encouraged to complete the appropriate Qualifications Assessment Tool (QAT) check sheet and upload it along with their resume. Experience:
To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience at the FV-H, FG/GS-12. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience may include but not limited to:
Performing inspections, surveillance and certification of air carriers, conducting enforcement investigations of air carriers and prepares final reports and recommendations on disposition to include self-disclosures from the certificate holder. Conducting the reexamination of certificated airmen. Evaluating operations and facilities by on-site inspections and review of reports by geographic inspectors or others.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.
